Shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday at a mega-concert in Madison Square
Garden, Pete Seeger gave a special concert on Pier 66 on the Hudson River in
Manhattan for the NYC Friends of Clearwater, the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater
local chapter, many of his NYC pals, and all who might want to attend. Among
those who came were Diane Ele and Karen Bebert of the Bridges of Peace
organization for which Pete and Ray wrote and recorded a ballad.
www.bridgepeace.org. The concert
celebrated the life of environmental activist Carl Schwartz and was dedicated to
the cause of good water for all the people of the world.
Pete invited Ray to perform with him during his set
(see next page) and he reciprocated by joining the Ray Korona Band for their
part of the program. Band members Ellen Davidson and Gina Tlamsa shared in the
music making.
A big thank you to the photographers who snapped photos
of the festivities including Ruth Indeck for most of them along with Ellen,
Chris Lang with Ellen's camera, Josh Karan, Diane Eleftheriades and event host
Joel Landy! And a shout out to Ruth for optimizing the photos for these web
pages!
